The advent of cloud computing has transformed the Information Technology industry beyond recognition. Not long ago, monolithic business applications ran on dedicated hardware in enterprise-owned data centers. The upkeep of these applications against software and hardware refresh cycles, coupled with scaling these applications as businesses continue to grow, has been a constant battle for IT staff.
Cloud computing has alleviated a majority of these concerns. This new breed of next-generation applications is built for web-scale, leveraging the platform abstraction that cloud platforms provide.
